Why write this blog?

I chose Emotional Ninja because one of my coaching clients said that I was teaching her to be an “Emotional Ninja” and that I should write about my work as a coach.

Coaching is different than the work I have done as a Clinical Psychologist.  As a coach I share what I value, my love, and my passion, and in doing so I share my own personal training in emotional ninja-hood.

My plan is to begin this blog with ideas of getting through the day as a ninja in training.

As an Emotional Ninja in training I wake up most days asking myself  “How will I enjoy this day?”

This blog will be a journey interweaving my client’s and my own experience on the way to becoming an Emotional Ninja.


Definition part I: a person skilled in ninjutsu, a Japanese martial art characterized by stealthy movement and camouflage”…

I chose this concept, “emotional ninja” to aspire to be stealthy, flexible in mind, body and spirit.  My own perspective on Ninjaness is not to camouflage, but instead allow authenticity to show up each day, to be present with what is happening, as best as I can, moment to moment, without judgment.

Definition part II: hired for covert purposes ranging from espionage to sabotage and assassination

Adding Emotional + Ninja is to facilitate the covert to overt, a safe unfolding of oneself, to become known to oneself and to others.  Presenting a strong competent self that is prepared for any of life’s vicissitudes.

An emotional ninja lives to be in companionship, seeks connection, to belong and thrive in community.
